2015 marked the bicentennial of the Battle of Waterloo. St. James’s Square will play a prominent role in the various events which were taking place. Our ancient oak from a building in St. James’s Square is utilised in our Sheffield knives commemorating the battle. The Waterloo Despatch from Wellington after the battle was delivered to the King in St. Jame’s Square. The Square has had a long history of association with major events in the Nations hisory and partiicularly so in the case of the Battle of Waterloo. Our first Sheffield made knife will be a sheepsfoot using the oak as grips and engraved with the bicentennial dates. The combination of Sheffield’s traditional knife making skills and the utilsing a knife blade pattern which would have been around at the time of Waterloo combined with the St. James’s Square oak present a remarkable opportunity to obtain a worthwhile unique and commemorative item associated with epic events not just in British history but indeed in world history. The Sheffield made knife will only be available in limited quantities and is a handmade item. It will come boxed with a letter on handmade paper explaining the making of the knife and some details of the Waterloo Despatch and how it was delivered to St.  James’s Square.
