The French royal porcelain manufacture, founded in 1740 at the chateau de Vincennes was renamed when it moved to Sevres in 1756. By the mid-eighteenth century, Sevres had become the leading manufactory of porcelain in Europe, and was renowned for it’s technical and decorative ability.

Some discolouration. The left rear hinge is broken. At it’s widest point across it’s four inches. Height to top of domed lid 2 1/4 inches. Price £140

Stock number 1038. Sevres mark blue with 1839 date as used between 1834 and 1845. Two handled shallow dish. Diameter of the plate eight and one half inches. Stands on a shallow circular foot of four and half inches diameter. No cracks or chips, clean and bright.Small cypher at top as shown. Price £125.
