The Royal Navy Pen - turned out of teak stored by the Royal Navy for the last ship in the Navy to have teak decking

Ancient hard teak was kept by the Navy for the last ship with teak decks which was the Royal Yacht. When the Britannia was de-commissioned the teak was de-commissioned with it. Used in a pen the teak has historic connections.

The ballpoint pen comes in a drawstring bag created out of the Royal House of Stuart red tartan. The wool for the tartan was from a Yorkshire mill and the bag was made in the UK with metal fittings. The Royal House of Stewart dates back to the 11th century and are the ancestors of the present Royal family. The bag is designed to completely enclose the pen. The pen and bag combination are a remarkable piece of British history and when the few pieces we have are gone thats it.

We have revived one of my Uncle Cecil’s trade cards on a shaving mug. It was a pretty ill fated venture. Click on the image to see it. He described himself as ‘poultice suppliers to the Empire’.

sniper plate belt buckle small

Hand crafted out of a WW1 sniper plate retrieved from the area of the Battle of the Somme is a belt buckle and each one is quite unique and displays the rugged patina and weathering of one hundred years in the ground.
